Self-worth: What are the pitfalls to a healthy sense of self?

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Another delightful guest–Dallas Woodburn–you can check out her website at www.zest.net/writeon. Calling all young authors, she has contests, writing prompts, and author interviews, go check it out.

So what are the pitfalls to a healthy sense of self?

Looking at others, this means media too.

Not being heard.

Hanging around with people who put you down.

Not having a relationship with your Higher Power!

In other words, focus up (God), out (others), and in (me) will take care of itself!

Self-worth: Giver Gain

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I promised my listeners that I would put up the websites we mentioned in the September 17 show. For those interested in writing don’t forget the www.nanowrimo.org site. Those who would like to know more about Jessica may go to jessicaburkhart.com and if you are interested in her novels about girls and horses go to caterwoodcrest.com. If you didn’t get a chance to hear this inspiring young author’s interview, then go to LifeTalk.net. There you have it. Thanks for checking in.

Self-worth: The silent killer of homeschooling!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

The topic for the month of September is self-worth. I believe that parents who have low self-worth should be very cautious in their decision to home school. Parents with low self-worth often pass their pain to their off-spring by being overly controlling, among other things. At some early time in their lives these parents may have felt out of control and now everything has to be controlled, thus inadvertently damaging their children. Just being aware of this potential pitfall may help many parents make necessary corrections to ensure a healthy sense of self for their children. Where does one begin? Listen to LifeTalk.net on Wednesdays from 11:00 to 12:00 noon through the month of September and share with us your thoughts on the matter.
