Why is the topic of Spirituality important? I think Spirituality is where we answer life’s big question “who am I?” Its pretty simple when you put it that way. An infant starts on the journey to answer that question. They feel their toes, they see their reflection, and their parents make them feel like they are the center of the universe–hopefully. In their joyful innocence they are our examples, “except ye be as little children”. God created us for His joy!!! It is freeing to understand this concept. Are you happy? Are you joyful? Even in the most stressful times, your joy is God’s joy. This is true Spirituality.
I took six points from today’s show.
1. Prioritize your time
2. Memorize Scripture
3. Envolment in Church activities and relationships
4. Provide opportunities for your children to share their faith
5. Help other parents/church leaders to understand the importance of Spiritual Education
6. Avoid detractors, i.e. busyness, media, addictions.
My son was two years old. Every night was stressful as I tried to get him to go to bed and he tried to find ways to avoid it. It didn’t help that we were learning to sleep on a “big boys” bed. One particulally stressful evening and after he was under his covers I felt compeled to go to his little bedside, I knelt down and folded my hands, I saw fear flicker in his eyes, I closed my eyes and prayed. “Dear Lord, thank you for Roddy. I love him so much. I’m sorry I was so cross, help me to be a better mama.” I opened my eyes. His bottom lip was quivering slightly and he wiped a tear. It was then I realized that a two-year old knows, they are intelligent, emotional beings created in the image of God and what damage we do to them without even knowing it. I never trusted my own parenting instincts agains. Praise God, now my grown son will soon have a son of his own and maybe he will start right from the beginning with true Spiritual Education.
God Bless,
